Q. Meet with Children's Librarian

Meet with Children's Librarian
I am hoping to organize a story time, about water safety/read a book about a fish who is scared of the water, and then do a craft for kids that has to do with the water. I was hoping I could be a part of a story time at brookline. Is there anyway to schedule a meeting with the children's librarian?

Thank you,

Adrian Eagles

Hello Adrian,

Please excuse the delay in responding! I was out of the office on Thursday and Friday, and then Monday was a holiday so it's taken a while to catch up!

Thank you so much for contacting us to suggest a leading storytime at the Library. I and my colleagues in the Children's Department each lead multiple children's programs on a weekly basis, so we share your passion for introducing new stories and ideas to children through books and crafts - particularly when it comes to topics such as children's fears and safety.

Because we have so many staff members whose training and job specifications revolve around leading story programming, we don't have members of the public lead our storytimes. In the past, however, we have had special storytimes led by professionals such as Brookline's fire fighters and park rangers. Based off of your (excellent) suggestion for a water safety storytime, I will reach out to the Recreation Department to see whether any of the their lifeguards could come in and do a special storytime and talk to kids about their jobs - and of course, water safety!

Best wishes,
